Picture a Titian-haired Carrie Bradshaw-meets-Marie Antoinette. That’s who Scott Laslie imagined when he designed a residence for the Traditional Home Built for Women Showhouse III. “She wants the best and has the best. And she’s definitely a redhead,” he says, with a laugh.

Laslie designed a 2,200-square-foot townhome for a single sophisticate as part of the Traditional Home showhouse project in Woodstock, Georgia, a historic community 20 miles north of Atlanta. Award-winning Atlanta builder Pam Sessions of Hedgewood Properties developed Woodstock Downtown, a community that combines nearly 400 residences—flats above shops, single-family homes, and townhouses—with shops, parks, and office spaces. The small-town-like atmosphere fosters neighborly relationships, while the proximity to Atlanta gives easy access to big-city culture, shopping, and entertainment.

In the living room, elegant pin-tucked draperies made of Jim Thompson silk sateen are paired with rustic turned-walnut tables. Painted Moroccan screens flank a French-inspired sofa, and modern club chairs sit by a vintage glass-top coffee table.

The room’s ivory, turquoise, and coral color palette was inspired by the English Wilton rug Laslie found in New York, and it was perfect for his redhead sophisticate. Laslie really does personalize his color palettes. “We look at hair, skin, eyes, and what’s going to complement and work best for her,” he says. “After all, she wants to glow at her own party.”
